ORIGINS OF C.GREEN

Being a practising nutritionist, during the consults for various health issues, I observed that food I suggested to the clients was not available on the shelves. So I took it as a responsibility to bring back the real food - food which is grown in its natural environment, processed using traditional methods and combined with few ingredients to create a perfectly balanced convenient food. Consume green is the outcome of this thought and was conceptualised in 2011

JOURNEY OF C.GREEN

2011 →

Started c-green at home from my kitchen, enjoyed the process of learning and understanding various aspects of grains, methods and recipes. Interacting with grandmas and women of different geographical locals.

2012 to 2016 →

Formed a group with wives of army havildars who were posted on field area. Skilled them to create c.green products. Worked with lot of love and happiness, which infused good energy in the food. 

Added more products gradually. Started retailing and participating in farmers markets to interact with people to understand and bring awareness about good food.

2016 →

Our first corporate client Ananda in the Himalayas came on board followed by Marriott Kolkata

2017 →

With a need to scale up we moved to Paonta sahib, foothills of Himachal, with a focus to create food in clean air. To reduce the carbon footprint moved closer to the area where ingredients are grown.

Formed a group of women of farming community and started working in clean environment. Bringing in the practice of traditional storing methods of storing grains. Reviving the water mills (graths) to mill the nutritionally rich flour. ( thanda atta). For sustainable practices brought in solar cookers for all the roasting purposes.

2018 →

Travelled the hill region of Uttarakhand and Himachal to identify the smallholding farmers to set up a smooth supply chain.with the support of Goat village reached the high altitude farmers to procure the pure amaranth finger millet and oil seeds.

Till 2023 →

Onboarded Andaz hotel( Hyatt), Postcard hotels Airbnb corporate office, Blackrock Gurgaon branch.
Our star product ‘Muesli Munch’ rocked every where, true to its name it is munched by everyone. Flax peanut ladoo “an instant pick me up” is portioned as a single serve and packed just for a week. Our addictive Amaranth namkeen is everyone’s favourite.
We just started supplying to Bookmark wellness resort. We are also working with Rare India, responsible tourism.
We have a fssai number and we work with PGS certified farmers body to ensure the quality of ingredients. Some of our ingredients are from certified organic farmers.

C.green is about simple and uncomplicated recipes, to create clean and healthy food.
We put together only few ingredients to create a recipe. To individually taste and enjoy the specific ingredients. 
We create ready to eat convenient food with a perfect blend of nutrition and flavour. So it’s health anytime anywhere. 
It’s about experiencing the pleasure that comes from eating ancient and local ingredients without any preservatives and chemicals.

Honesty

We practice CLEAN LABEL, what we claim is what you get in the food. The ingredients used are pure and natural with no trace of artificial additives. Our ingredients are sourced directly from the farms where the food is grown in its natural environment with no intervention. There are no preservatives and chemicals used in making of c.green products. We make small batches periodically to offer freshly created foods.

We create sustainable value chain with a low carbon footprint. Our products are created with Fair trade principles offering clear traceability of trust.
We work with smallholding farmers to encourage traditional farming practices. c. green strives to provide support to the farming community in the hills of Uttarakhand to ensure reverse migration.

OUR APPROACH

Use ancient grains

Our journey of research in 2008, for the traditional ingredients, led us to various forgotten grains and oilseeds.In that Millets caught our attention as it being a nutritionally well rounded grain, and the perfect answer to all the today’s health issues. So we decided to work with millets.
Understanding the value of humble millet, c. green is always innovating and unearthing the forgotten recipes, to make it available for today’s aware millennials.

Leverage traditional farming and smallholding farmers for sourcing

c.green works with smallholding farmers engaged in traditional farming. The idea is to support and encourage the traditional farming practices.During our travels we identified the high altitude areas where we met these smallholding farmers growing and storing amaranth in traditional methods. Their gratification encouraged us to work with them.

  • For portion control our ladoos are in seven day pack.  
  • The ghee content is tweaked to adjust to today’s less manual lifestyles.  
  • Traditional practices and not traditional tastes.  
  • At c.green the traditional recipes are tweaked to suit the global palate.. The world is increasingly a global village and the palates are widely travelled, so we tweak our recipes to satisfy these discerning consumers.
